Making Memories for Generations to Come

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on April 13, 2020 by JeffApril 13, 2020

When you think about it, our parents and grandparents documented their lives with actual photo enlargements that have become our family’s keepsakes and heirlooms.  In today’s world of electronics, digital technology prevails; we all have mobile phones and/or traditional digital cameras; and worse of all, we spend countless hours creating still images without ever making an enlargement/prints.   It struck me weird last month when I overheard one of our store experts explain to  a customer how his children email/text him photos of his grandchildren.  He actually makes photo enlargements of them.  He continued explaining that someday his kids will be knocking … Continue reading →

White Balance – The Key To Great Color

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on June 3, 2019 by JeffJune 3, 2019

White balance is the cornerstone of color management. Although most modern digital cameras have excellent auto white balance nothing compares to customizing your camera’s white balance manually. Before demystifying the process of white balancing your camera manually it is important to understand the fundamentals of what white balancing is; and its importance in creating superlative images. White balanc first introduce was first introduced to us when video cameras replaced movie (film) cameras . Since the vidicon tube and eventually the CCD and CMOS chips are electronic they require a reference point for color. Primary Colors The positive primary colors are Red, Green … Continue reading →

Cell Phones versus a Camera… Sensor Size Matters

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on September 24, 2018 by JeffOctober 5, 2018

There really is no comparison when it comes to choosing between cell phones versus a camera to take great pictures!  You don’t use your camera to make telephone calls, so why would you rely on your cell phone to create photographs? Aside from the fact that almost everyone has their cell phones handy to create photos at a moment’s notice, why would you trust a cell phone to preserve your precious memories? Most Cameras Can Connect to Your Smartphone The fact that you can share your memories across social media is not a valid reason; when you consider almost all … Continue reading →

Photo Challenge – A Personal Approach to Improving the Quality of your Images

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on August 4, 2018 by JeffAugust 5, 2018

by Jeffrey H. Mantler, PPA Certified, M.Photog,Cr. Everything about creating art is personal to the artist. This photo challenge is personal and designed for you to strengthen your core as an artist so you can better yourself and strengthen your images. Growing up in the photography industry, I had many unique experiences. I was just a child when my father, the owner of a successful portrait/wedding studio, was approached to photograph members of the New York Nets.  After creating these portraits, he was commissioned to photograph all of the team’s home games. I was by his side shooting at every … Continue reading →

Thirty years of PowerShot deserves something a little… spicy. 😏🔥Meet the 30th-Anniversary Limited Edition Graphite version of the Canon G7 X Mark III — a compact that’s been famously hard to keep in stock because it straight-up went viral with creators and travel shooters. What makes this anniversary edition special (besides the flex)?A graphite finish, 30th-anniversary logo, and a premium diamond/twill-patterned front ring that screams “collector… but make it street.”Limited quantities, scheduled for April 2026, with the kit priced at $1,299.And yes—the magic inside stays the same (because it already works): 20.1MP 1” stacked sensor + DIGIC 8, a 24–100mm equivalent f/1.8–2.8 zoom, 4K 30p, a flip-up touchscreen, mic input, and up to 20 fps bursts.Bonus kit love: it includes a Peak Design wrist strap and an SD card (so you can start creating immediately). Why it’s still relevant in 2026? Because not everyone wants to lug a full rig everywhere. This is the “pocket rocket” for travel, daily carry, vlogging, and “I need content right now” moments—whether you’ve shot Canon forever or you’re just jumping into the PowerShot world for the first time. 🚀📸🎥Swing by Foto Forum and let’s talk compacts—this one’s a celebration and a creator tool. 🙌My friends, don’t forget to have a fantastically blessed day wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, and never stop being amazing.Remember:Keep on creating. The image you captured today,Can change the world tomorrow.Remember:Be kind to yourself and others.Be amazing stewards on the trail. And we have to ask, What are you waiting for? 'Get Out, Arizona!”We will see you on the next adventure.www.youtube.com/@GetOutArizona#CanonPowerShot #G7XMarkIII #CompactCamera #VloggingCamera #FotoForumPhoenix ... See MoreSee Less

Some folks are calling the Canon EOS R7 “long in the tooth.” I say… nay. 😄📸In 2026, the R7 is still an absolute APS-C powerhouse, and honestly, it’s in a league of its own for the shooters who need speed, reach, and reliability without hauling a full-frame brick. And let’s be crystal clear: APS-C isn’t a handicap here, it’s an asset. That 1.6x crop turns your telephoto into a wildlife-and-sports cheat code 🦅🏟️ (without you having to sell a kidney for a 600mm).Why the R7 still turns heads:* 32.5MP APS-C resolution with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for fast, confident subject tracking * 15 fps mechanical / 30 fps electronic for action, birds, and “I blinked and missed it” moments * In-body stabilization up to 7 stops (with Coordinated IS on compatible lenses) for handheld wins 📷✨ * Video that raised eyebrows when it launched: 4K/60 10-bit, plus HDR PQ and C-Log 3, and Canon’s “4K Fine” mode that oversamples for extra detail 🎥🔥 * Built for real-world use: Canon describes it as dust- and drip-resistant (pair it with a similarly sealed lens, and you’re ready for the elements) 🌧️💪 It was announced May 24, 2022, with an estimated body-only price of $1,499, and it’s still one of the best value plays for wildlife shooters, sports journalists, and anyone who wants a camera that can keep up. Stop in at Foto Forum and let’s get the R7 in your hands—because this one isn’t “old”… it’s proven. 😎My friends, don’t forget to have a fantastically blessed day wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, and never stop being amazing.Remember:Keep on creating. The image you captured today,Can change the world tomorrow.Remember:Be kind to yourself and others.Be amazing stewards on the trail. And we have to ask, What are you waiting for? Pocket-sized light… big-time attitude. 😤💡Meet the ProMaster Chroma CL36RGB LED Light 3.0—your “keep it in the bag at all times” RGB powerhouse for photo and video. Why creators love it:600 lumens with output adjustable 1–100% (aka: from subtle fill to “yes, we can see you” 😅).Bi-color 2,500K–8,500K for everything from warm indoor vibes to daylight punch.RGB with 360 hues + 0–100% saturation control for accent lighting, background color pops, and “make it cinematic” moments 🎨✨.19 special effects scenes when you want lightning/police/fireworks-style drama without… you know… actual drama 😈.TLCI 98 / CRI 96 for clean, accurate color (skin tones stay happy).Built-in 5,000mAh rechargeable battery with USB-C charging, and it runs about 2 hours 8 minutes at full power. 🔋Works wirelessly with the Light Attendant app, plus a built-in cold foot so you can stack another accessory on top. 📱🎤And the best part? It’s listed at $99.95—which is honestly wild for how much control you get in something this compact.Swing by Foto Forum and let’s get you lit the right way.
