Clean and Check – The #1 Photo Resolution for the New Year – What are the others?

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on January 6, 2018 by JeffJanuary 6, 2018

Seems like we were just gearing up for Thanksgiving and now we’ve said goodbye to 2017 and hello to a new year. As the family photographer you are tasked with maintaining your families history. It is a labor of love that many of us enjoy. So when January arrives it generally means it’s time for your equipment’s annual Clean & Check maintenance. Clean and Check The first, and most critical, is to have annual equipment maintenance completed. This means cameras and lenses go in for cleaning and a mechanical check-up.  Best time to do this is every January or before you go … Continue reading →

Why You Should Be Using Neutral Density Filters

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on December 13, 2017 by JeffDecember 4, 2017

If you don’t have a variable neutral density filter in your camera case then you are seriously missing out!  My advice, get one STAT! I typically use a UV filter to protect my lenses and a ProMaster CPL filter for some scenics, however, the new ProMaster HGX Variable ND Filter is one I just won’t leave my studio without. Nuetral Density (ND) filters are basically sunglasses for your lenses; they diminish the light transmitting thru your lens. This lack of light transmitted permits you to use slower shutter speeds and wider apertures. Without using a ND filter you’d have to use faster shutter speeds with smaller f-stops … Continue reading →

5 Tips for Consistently Good Indoor Photos

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on December 1, 2017 by JeffDecember 1, 2017

No matter what level photography experience you have we all know that creating indoor photos can be a little tricky. Below are a few tips on how to avoid some of the pitfalls. Color Balance/White Balance your Indoor Photos Taking photos inside is one place that gives automatic settings on your camera an operating issue. Especially relevant to better indoor photos is learning how to set your camera’s white balance.  If you are shooting available light and the light source is an Incandescent bulb, (3200˚K), Fluorescent tube (4500˚K), natural light through the window (5000˚-6500˚K) or an electronic flash (5500˚). Consider purchasing … Continue reading →

Pinhole Projector for Eclipse Viewing and Photography

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on August 21, 2017 by Greg BerlucchiAugust 21, 2017

Find a large box. Size is only important to give room for a pinhole that’s not obstructed by your head or your camera. Cut a small hole near the center of the short side.  Set your camera lens face down near the edge and draw an outline around your lens. Cut out that hole. You’ll use that for your lens or your eye. Pop a little pinhole in the center of a small piece of aluminum foil. Use a pin to make that hole. The cleaner and rounder the hole is- the sharper your viewing will be. Don’t dig around … Continue reading →

Tips for Eclipse Photography

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on August 21, 2017 by Greg BerlucchiAugust 21, 2017

Now that we’re upon the #GreatAmericanEclipse, and especially that we’re now SOLD OUT OF SOLAR FILTERS!!! Its time for a nice technical post about eclipse photography. First, all the safety stuff!!! Only use approved solar viewing filters to look at the sun!!! Keep your camera lens capped except when actually shooting!!! I don’t want to see anyone come in with holes burned in their shutters – so don’t use Mirror Lockup!!! If you’re doing Live View from your camera’s rear screen remember that the sun is blasting onto the sensor!!! I’ll say it again- Keep your camera lens capped except when … Continue reading →

4 Tips to Great Travel Photos

FOTO FORUM Camera Video, Foto Forum AZ Posted on August 4, 2017 by JeffAugust 4, 2017

When it comes to travel photography its not about the camera you have.  Think about it, photographers like Ansel Adams & Yousuf Karsh could create better images with a pinhole camera than most of today’s photographers can with the most sophisticated computerized cameras made.  Photography is not even about the beautiful images we create. For most of us it is about telling stories and preserving family memories. Having the latest and greatest equipment is awesome if you can afford it; however, it is not necessary for taking great photos of your family. So, what is necessary? Being prepared and understanding … Continue reading →

Thirty years of PowerShot deserves something a little… spicy. 😏🔥Meet the 30th-Anniversary Limited Edition Graphite version of the Canon G7 X Mark III — a compact that’s been famously hard to keep in stock because it straight-up went viral with creators and travel shooters. What makes this anniversary edition special (besides the flex)?A graphite finish, 30th-anniversary logo, and a premium diamond/twill-patterned front ring that screams “collector… but make it street.”Limited quantities, scheduled for April 2026, with the kit priced at $1,299.And yes—the magic inside stays the same (because it already works): 20.1MP 1” stacked sensor + DIGIC 8, a 24–100mm equivalent f/1.8–2.8 zoom, 4K 30p, a flip-up touchscreen, mic input, and up to 20 fps bursts.Bonus kit love: it includes a Peak Design wrist strap and an SD card (so you can start creating immediately). Why it’s still relevant in 2026? Because not everyone wants to lug a full rig everywhere. This is the “pocket rocket” for travel, daily carry, vlogging, and “I need content right now” moments—whether you’ve shot Canon forever or you’re just jumping into the PowerShot world for the first time. 🚀📸🎥Swing by Foto Forum and let’s talk compacts—this one’s a celebration and a creator tool. 🙌My friends, don’t forget to have a fantastically blessed day wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, and never stop being amazing.Remember:Keep on creating. The image you captured today,Can change the world tomorrow.Remember:Be kind to yourself and others.Be amazing stewards on the trail. And we have to ask, What are you waiting for? Some folks are calling the Canon EOS R7 “long in the tooth.” I say… nay. 😄📸In 2026, the R7 is still an absolute APS-C powerhouse, and honestly, it’s in a league of its own for the shooters who need speed, reach, and reliability without hauling a full-frame brick. And let’s be crystal clear: APS-C isn’t a handicap here, it’s an asset. That 1.6x crop turns your telephoto into a wildlife-and-sports cheat code 🦅🏟️ (without you having to sell a kidney for a 600mm).Why the R7 still turns heads:* 32.5MP APS-C resolution with Dual Pixel CMOS AF II for fast, confident subject tracking * 15 fps mechanical / 30 fps electronic for action, birds, and “I blinked and missed it” moments * In-body stabilization up to 7 stops (with Coordinated IS on compatible lenses) for handheld wins 📷✨ * Video that raised eyebrows when it launched: 4K/60 10-bit, plus HDR PQ and C-Log 3, and Canon’s “4K Fine” mode that oversamples for extra detail 🎥🔥 * Built for real-world use: Canon describes it as dust- and drip-resistant (pair it with a similarly sealed lens, and you’re ready for the elements) 🌧️💪 It was announced May 24, 2022, with an estimated body-only price of $1,499, and it’s still one of the best value plays for wildlife shooters, sports journalists, and anyone who wants a camera that can keep up. Stop in at Foto Forum and let’s get the R7 in your hands—because this one isn’t “old”… it’s proven. 😎My friends, don’t forget to have a fantastically blessed day wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, and never stop being amazing.Remember:Keep on creating. The image you captured today,Can change the world tomorrow.Remember:Be kind to yourself and others.Be amazing stewards on the trail. And we have to ask, What are you waiting for? Pocket-sized light… big-time attitude. 😤💡Meet the ProMaster Chroma CL36RGB LED Light 3.0—your “keep it in the bag at all times” RGB powerhouse for photo and video. Why creators love it:600 lumens with output adjustable 1–100% (aka: from subtle fill to “yes, we can see you” 😅).Bi-color 2,500K–8,500K for everything from warm indoor vibes to daylight punch.RGB with 360 hues + 0–100% saturation control for accent lighting, background color pops, and “make it cinematic” moments 🎨✨.19 special effects scenes when you want lightning/police/fireworks-style drama without… you know… actual drama 😈.TLCI 98 / CRI 96 for clean, accurate color (skin tones stay happy).Built-in 5,000mAh rechargeable battery with USB-C charging, and it runs about 2 hours 8 minutes at full power. 🔋Works wirelessly with the Light Attendant app, plus a built-in cold foot so you can stack another accessory on top. 📱🎤And the best part? It’s listed at $99.95—which is honestly wild for how much control you get in something this compact.Swing by Foto Forum and let’s get you lit the right way.
