Instagram Photo Tips for Foodies
Images of your favorite foodie experiences continue to top today’s Instagram feeds – and with good reason; we all are obsessed with taking photos of our meals. No matter if we are at home or dining out we are not allowed to eat until my daughter finishes capturing images for her Instagram “story”; the fact is that beautiful food is an art form in its own right; so what could be more fun than photo showing your friends or seeing what your friends have discovered in their local cafes and restaurants?
Try this trick that food bloggers rely on for absolutely appetizing images when you are adding your favorite dish to your Instagram feed. To achieve the best images try photographing your plate by positioning the camera from directly over the top. Consider trying other interesting angles afterwards; they often can create more impact on your images.
Try using Promaster’s Mobile Lens Kit to mix things up; the mobile kit features a 180 degree Fisheye Lens, a 2x Telephoto Lens, a Convertible .65x Wide Angle/Macro Lens, and a Circular Polarizing Filter. I have found that the Fisheye and the Macro Lenses afford more dynamics that allow you to create stunning images.
Lighting Tip
The lighting in the restaurants can often prove to be challenging; make sure to adjust your white balance if you are shooting with a DSLR and then transmitting the image to your mobile phone to post. On the other hand you may need to bump up the exposure and the contrast a bit if you are using your mobile device to capture your images. One last tip, be sure to photograph the front of the restaurant. Your post for the day can lead with that image, saving the delicious dining images for your next instagram post.
